1.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Masonry Cement Mortar?

Yes, however we would recommend that you use a 6mm long product. This is a much more suitable length of fibre to use with sand cement mixes.

2.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Masonry Cement Mortar?

Yes, however we would recommend that you use a 6mm long product. This is a much more suitable length of fibre to use with sand cement mixes.

3.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Pavements?

Yes, the inclusion of our fibres in this type of construction can only be beneficial and the fibres also help to protect the concrete from cycles of freezing and thawing.

4.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Burial Vaults And Septic Tanks?

Yes, because of the improvements in reducing water and chemical penetration.

5.Can The PP Fibres Be Used In Coloured And Stamped (Patterned Concrete)?

Yes, it is very beneficial due to the fact that the fibres reduce ugly plastic shrinkage cracks.

6.Can The PP Fibres Be Used In Tilt Up Construction?

Yes

7.Can The PP Fibres Be Used In Coloured And Stamped (Patterned Concrete)?

Yes, it is very beneficial due to the fact that the fibres reduce ugly plastic shrinkage cracks.

8.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Marine Environments?

Yes, the fibres have been used in large-scale projects around the coastlines in Europe and the fibres increase the toughness of the concrete.

9.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Pre-Cast Concrete?

Yes, the inclusion of the fibres will increase the toughness of the concrete and lead to less damage to the precast units during the stripping and movement of the units.

10Can PP Fibres Be Used In Pumped Concrete?

Yes the inclusion of fibres in the concrete for pumping will have no detrimental affect on the ability of the concrete to pump. In fact the inclusion of the fibres will make the mix less likely to segregate and will therefore improve the pumpability of the concrete. Likewise in shotcreting and gunite mixes the fibres will have no detrimental affect.

11.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Elevated Decks?

Yes there are no reasons not to do so.

12.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Exposed Aggregates?

Yes, however the fine fibres may also be more visible than in a normal concrete mix.

13.Can PP Fibres Be Used In Extruded Concrete?

Yes, it has been stated that the inclusion of fibres makes the concrete easier to extrude. The concrete also contains fewer tares and contains less plastic shrinkage cracks.

14.Can PP Fibres Be Used As A Replacement For Primary Reinforcement?

No. However in ground supported slabs the fibres can be used in place of crack control mesh provided that the mesh is not in the concrete for structural purposes. Also note that the bay sizes should be no greater than 6 by 6 metres and the ground should be well compacted and stable.

15.Are PP Fibres The Same As Steel?

No steel fibres provide the concrete with flexural and tensile properties and can be used in place of structural steel in the correct designs. Whilst fibres enhances durability making good concrete even better.

16.Can Belmix Fibres Be Used In Bonded & Un-Bonded Toppings, Exterior Concrete, Vertical Walls ?

The answer to all of these is yes.

17.Do PP Fibres Reduce Plastic Settlement Cracking?

Yes, the inclusion of our fibres makes the concrete more cohesive and also reduces the number of bleed channels within the matrix thus helping to reduce both bleed in the concrete and plastic settlement. Due to the above two mechanisms concrete containing our fibres will be more impermeable to ingress from aqueous solutions.

18.Do PP Fibres Reduce Plastic Settlement Cracking?

Yes, the inclusion of our fibres makes the concrete more cohesive and also reduces the number of bleed channels within the matrix thus helping to reduce both bleed in the concrete and plastic settlement. Due to the above two mechanisms concrete containing our fibres will be more impermeable to ingress from aqueous solutions.

19.Do PP Fibres Reduce Plastic Settlement Cracking?

Yes, the inclusion of our fibres makes the concrete more cohesive and also reduces the number of bleed channels within the matrix thus helping to reduce both bleed in the concrete and plastic settlement. Due to the above two mechanisms concrete containing our fibres will be more impermeable to ingress from aqueous solutions.

20.Do PP Fibres Affect Abrasion Resistance?

Yes, the fibre improves abrasion resistance of the concrete and this is a function of the reduced bleed characteristics of fibrin enhanced concrete. Due to less settlement the surface contains less of the finer weaker fine sand. Therefore abrasion resistance is increased.

21.Do PP Fibres Affect Impact Resistance?

Yes, the inclusion of fibres in concrete improves the ductility of the concrete matrix. The BBA tests show an improvement of 500% against the control mix.

22.Do PP Fibres Affect Shatter Resistance Of Concrete?

Yes, the inclusion of the fibres will improve the shatter resistance of concrete. Crushing cubes with and without fibres in them can easily see this. The fibres enhanced concrete will hold together whilst the plain concrete cube will just fall apart.

23.Do PP Fibres Add Toughness To Hardened Concrete?

Toughness is usually defined as the resistance of a sample of concrete to failure by impact, this being the case then the answer is most definitely yes.

24.Do PP Affect Dusting Of Concrete?

The inclusion of the fibres will help reduce dusting due to the fact that the bleed of the concrete will be reduced thus reducing the amount of finer materials at the surface. Whilst an improvement does occur there can be no substitute for proper curing.

25.Do PP Fibres Affect Crazing Of Concrete?

The over trowelling of the concrete, which will bring to the surface a highly cementitious material that is susceptible to a high degree of shrinkage, can cause crazing. The use of the fibres will therefore reduce the crazing of the concrete.

26.Do PP Fibres Affect Scaling And Blistering Of Concrete?

Blistering of the concrete is caused where the surface of the concrete is finished too quickly whilst bleed water is still coming up from the matrix. This bleed water will be trapped beneath the finished layer and this forms a weak spot beneath the surface, which will blister when it starts to be trafficked. Scaling usually occurs in uncured concrete. The inclusion of the Fibrin will not have any affect on either of the above properties.

27.Do PP Fibres Affect Or Cause Curling Of Concrete Slabs?

The fibres by controlling the bleed and settlement of the concrete will help to reduce the potential for curling by helping to reduce the moisture gradient in the concrete which will help to reduce one of the factors that causes curling.

28.Do The Use Of PP Fibres Require Mix Design Changes?

The inclusion of the fibres will increase the yield of the concrete mix by about 1% so it is possible to reduce the coarse and fine aggregates in the mix by 1% and still maintain the yield. However, most companies do not make any alterations to the mix designs.
